Personal Note

I'm sorry for the lull in posts. As I get back into the Word, God has shown me so many wonderful and convicting truths that it will take me more time to faithfully work through them all. So I wanted to take this time to write a quick personal note. Something that the Lord has shown me recently (well not really recently, it is something that I have always known but never really let myself acknowledge or share with others) is that I have a crippling fear of being found out. This fear is rooted deeply in my pride and cripples me from fully fulfilling God's call to love others. The only way I know how to kill pride is to humble yourself before others and put your insecurities out there. So, my fear is that other people will know that I don't have my act together and that what they see is sometimes a front. To love others is to help focus them on and point them to Christ, and this fear of being found out deters me from that. I find that many times I do not direct conversation and interactions towards Christ because I feel like if I do I'll be found out that my relationship with God is not perfect. If I'm not spending time in the Word, or prayer, or memorizing Scripture then I won't bring it up to others because then I'll have to admit my shortcomings. I feel like this fear has robbed me of many opportunities to be used by God for his glory. So please know that there is never a time on this earth that we will ever be perfect and free from sin, and if you wait to act on God's callings till you feel like you are ready or good enough then we are not only missing out on His blessings but we are robbing Him of His glory that is due to Him. Be men and women of action take to heart 2 Timothy 1:7 "for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." So be direct, honest, and open with others because that is how we can love and spur on one another towards Christ.
"Let no corrupting word come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear." Ephesians 4:29
We are called to build one another up, do not let your fears or insecurities keep you from building others up.
