Simple Truth
Sometimes it is the simple things and messages that bring about the most profound change. Possibly the most basic and simple truth about God hit me a few days ago, and it has brought me out of the spiritual drought that I've been in this past week or so. God loves you. That's all. God is perfect love, and Christ is the perfect example of biblical love (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). This truth has led me to 1 John, especially chapter 4."In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins" 1 John 4:10. Our entire life is based off this wonderful truth, that we are capable of life much less love only because God loves us so much that he sent his son to be the propitiation (atoning sacrifice) for our sins. We are only capable of love because of God's love for us. No one of this world, family, friends, even spouses, will ever know you as intimately as God our creator knows you (Jeremiah 1:5). So think about the two concepts, God is the most perfect and fulfilling love and he knows you more intimately than anyone else will ever be able to. The two concepts add up to Jeremiah 29:11, basically God knows us more intimately and is able to love us more perfectly than anything or anyone of this world; therefore, God has the perfect plan for your life (note this is not always the most comfortable or easiest plan, we as Christians live in a sin engulfed world and will face trials and persecution James 1:2). God is good, God is great, and our purpose in life is to love him by praising and glorifying his name (John 3:30, we must increase his name not our own), and we are able to do this by abiding in Him, his love, his word and commandments.
"For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world— our faith." 1 John 5: 3-4
"And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God." Colossians 1: 9-10
"Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God." Hebrews 13: 15-16
